Blogs are everywhere and one driven by the need for good quality content in order to get good rankings in the major search engines. So how do bloggers make money then?
One of two ways: directly and indirectly.

If you look at many blogs you will see links in or at the bottom of each article. These links will lead to one of two places: a product or a website.
Lets look at the link to a product first. A good internet marketer will have their own lost of products that they sell, be they eBooks or physical products. They will have been crafted over a number of years. Within each of these products will be what is called upsells. These are often complimentary products that the marketer will attempt to sell you alongside the one that you really want. Some people find this annoying; others find it interesting and purchase both products. Sometimes the marketer might even sell a membership to a website, promising cut price products in the future. There are a number of options available to a canny internet marketer.
So how do bloggers make money if they have no product? Well the easy way is to hop over to a site such as ClickBank.com, the market leader, sign up as an affiliate and look for an appropriate product. Then a couple of lines of code, hidden by the link and voila you have a product to sell. Every time a visitor clicks on the link they are taken to a website page, called a landing page, where the product is waiting for them to purchase. The lines of code contain an identifier that enables the internet marketer to earn a commission for each sale. The downside to this much easier option is that the blogger is competing with possibly thousands of others selling the same product. They are also reliant on the landing page and product being attractive. Of course for not doing the work, they earn a fraction of the product price.
The direct link from a blog will take the reader directly to the blog owner's own site where a product or service awaits them for sale.
There is one other way that a blogger makes money from their blog and that is by collecting sign ups for a mailing list. WordPress, the leading blog software company, offer many blog designs and plugins, little pieces of code that undertake an action, that enable mailing lists to be set up. By offering a free gift and the chance of receiving free advice and/or coupons in the future bloggers induce people to sign up for a newsletter. Once a surfer does this they receive not only their free gift and information but also a string of carefully crafted emails, many offering the chance to purchase products at favorable rates.
There is one last way that bloggers make money, they also place their own products on static pages on the blog website or in banners alongside each blog. Thus when you are directed to a blog you are greeted by information about products and services available to you.
Blogs are hard work but a good bloggers makes money from their own carefully crafted blog.
