Facebook Traffic And You

In this article we are going to have a brief look at one of the ways we can send traffic to your websites using Facebook. We will also briefly cover some of the additional traffic generation models.

Traffic is the lifeblood of your internet marketing business and the greater proportion of your time and effort should be spent generating traffic. There are many ways to generate traffic, far too many to be included in this article but we will briefly cover a few of the more popular systems.

Traffic for your website can be generated online or offline. Offline it can be done with mail shots, hard copy advertising, radio and TV advertising, newspaper or magazine press releases, even shows and events with freebie giveaways. The list doesn't end there but you get the general idea of what is available.

Online there's PPC, blogging, emails, article marketing, video and audio, AdWords, CPA etc. Once again the list is enormous with many available variations. The one method not mentioned is "Social Media" possibly the largest and most economical way for generating both targeted and non targeted traffic.

Social media includes, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Video & audio along with many others which go under the cover name of Web 2. If you would like to learn some more about Web 2 platforms and social media in general then you can go online and just enter the term, Web 2, in one of the popular search engine boxes.

Today we are taking a look at probably the biggest, if not the biggest then it's definitely in the top 3, of the social media platforms and that is Facebook. If you're not familiar with the Facebook concept then you may want to Google it and open one of the many links where you can get up to speed.

Facebook has two distinct user types; there's the general public who just wants to interact with each other and the second group, the one we want to belong to, the online marketers who monetize Facebook by using it as a marketing tool.

First we need to set up an account on Facebook. Actually you can set up numerous accounts so that you can interact with different social groups.

After signing up and entering your profile details, you will want to connect with people you already know. This could be family and friends but in our case would most likely be business associates or contacts. Just by making these few simple connections you can be immediately linked to their friends and contacts.

It may be that you don't want to contact or "be friends" with everyone shown and Facebook will allow you to block off particular individuals or groups. This is great for targeting specific niche markets.

Those that you do link up with will usually be quite happy to do so based upon your presumed association with their friends and contacts. People are much more amenable and likely to be at ease when they interact with friends as opposed to strangers.

From a marketers perspective this is brilliant because we have broken through the first barrier without really doing anything except clicking a few links. From here on in we can expand our contact list to infinity if we so desire. However you don't want to abuse this privilege and it is a privilege to have this uninvited access.

Once you are set up and before you make your links you may want to plan a strategy for using Facebook. You could just link to all and sundry, communicate with them all for a while and then start to market to them, but this would be spamming and you certainly don't want to be doing that.

This is where the shrewd marketers utilise Facebook and all social media platforms to their own advantage. Rather than link, like or message all of the contacts, you would need to focus on those with whom you would like to joint venture. This means affiliates or contacts in certain groups who are either authorities in those groups or who have access to large lists of Facebook contacts.

In this way you go viral by leveraging your contacts who in turn will eventually receive affiliate commissions from you. As well as leveraging your contacts, if you set it up correctly you can access the email details to feed your marketing funnel.

The above strategy is probably the most obvious and there are many more options that can be used to drive traffic to Facebook. What really makes all of this a no brainer is you don't need any money to get started, it's free.

Lists like these can be the best since they are targeted, free and often able to provide repeat business.
